Several outboard manufacturers provide an accessory part that allows the engine cooling water to divert and then be run through the heat exchanger of a water cylinder. If this is an option, it works well but generally doesn’t give high temperatures or fast warming.
Quick have solved that problem by manufacturing a 300w 12v element. The Quick 16 litre rectangular boiler can now be ordered as a 12v unit, while the element is also available to be retrofitted, a great option for those wishing to add extra warmth, or fast heating, to a heat exchanger system.
